BZI’s Commitment to Utah Communities and Innovation Park Featured at the 2024 One Utah Summit
BZI® highlighted and was recognized for its many contributions to rural Utah at the One Utah Summit held October 7-9, 2024, in Cedar City, Utah. BZI was given the “Rural Rockstar” Award and presented at the event on the socioeconomic impact of its rural development initiatives. The company also hosted a dinner, sponsored by BZI at its new Nautilus One building located at the BZI Innovation Park in Cedar City, Utah.
BZI’s Innovation Park broke ground with Governor Spencer Cox cutting the ribbon in August 2023. The event was widely celebrated by the surrounding communities, local businesses, and state and local leaders. BZI was thrilled to show the progress of the park’s development and open the site’s newest building to all participants of the One Utah Summit conference. At the Summit dinner October 8th, the company’s team shared the many economic benefits BZI’s developments are contributing to surrounding businesses and states.
Nautilus One is the first structure to be completed at the park and showcases the processes and innovations that differentiate BZI and its technology R&D company, Innovatech®, from other construction companies.
BZI’s Innovation Park, an 820-acre sustainable industrial park and transportation hub in Cedar City will serve as an important component of the Iron Springs Project Area and will be the site of BZI’s new corporate headquarters. The park will initially include office buildings, on-site products and services to construct tailored processing facilities for customers, and is currently operating a rail transload service, RailSync™, as well as an expanded short-line service to individual facilities. The company anticipates technology, construction material manufacturing, data centers, e-commerce and distribution and residential housing, will also be integrated.
“The BZI Innovation Park is proving to make Iron County an even more attractive place for families to live and work,” said Ryan Obray, Project Executive at Visco. “The unique and sustainable offerings available at the park will improve transportation of raw materials and allow for more effective and efficient processing of goods and products for global companies. Additionally, companies in the region will gain better access to a worldwide shipping network.”
“BZI has made significant progress in realizing our vision toward bringing additional commerce and opportunities to the southern Utah region,” said Spencer Douglas, BZI’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We are thrilled to show conference attendees and our local communities the progress and positive impact of our industrial park to the region.”
In recognition of its many contributions to business and communities in southern Utah, BZI’s CEO James Barlow accepted the “Rural Rockstar” Award during the Summit, which was presented by Governor Spencer Cox. “His visionary leadership and hands-on dedication to projects shaping the future of rural Utah have made a remarkable impact,” said the One Utah Summit organizers of Barlow.
“BZI is deeply committed to enhancing and supporting our rural Utah communities in every aspect of our business operations and expansion,” said Barlow. “We are honored to be recognized and play a pivotal role in this special community of businesses and culture.”
Drake Howell of BZI’s Innovation Park spoke at the One Utah Summit to share how BZI’s rural development and business park initiatives are supporting and helping to grow commerce, job opportunities, sustainability programs and other positive socioeconomic impacts in the area.
Since 2016, BZI estimates that the company has contributed more than $60 million to the local community in infrastructure developments.
The One Utah Summit, according to the event’s website, is the premier rural event where top leaders shape Utah’s future. The 1,200+ attendees include top government and business leaders from across the state.
