Our Industries

Featured Project: Project HIBS - 2.2MM SQF

Duration: July 17, 2023 - March 11, 2024

Challenge

This project introduced several industry firsts, showcasing groundbreaking innovation and execution. It marked the debut of both the updated WallMaster 200™ and the prototype IMP panel table in their first real-world applications, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in steel construction technology. Further elevating the project’s complexity, it was delivered through an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) contract, bringing together multiple contractors under a unified, collaborative approach. While the upfront investment in IPD was substantial, the long-term benefits were transformative. The seamless coordination and shared commitment among all stakeholders resulted in exceptional efficiency, precise execution, and ultimately, a project that exceeded expectations in both performance and delivery.

Outcome

BZI implemented Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) to overcome the challenges typical of large-scale, high-tech projects for this project. This collaborative approach brought together the project’s key stakeholders: owner, architects, engineers, and steel fabricators under a single contract. This successfully reduced delays and rework, improved efficiency, and controlled costs. The outcome was a highly coordinated effort that delivered the steel structure on time, within budget, and with enhanced quality, meeting the stringent demands of microchip manufacturing.

Scopes

  • Largest silica carbide manufacturing plant of its kind in the world
  • Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) wall sections
  • Launch of WallMaster 200™
  • 7,800 sqf of IMP and steel substructure installed in one workday
